WRITING FRIENDS
The writing group I joined when I moved to Cottingham was a supportive group, whose members wrote for pleasure not profit, giving each other encouragement to write in whatever genre they preferred. Amongst the group there was a diversity of material – poetry and prose; fiction and non-fiction. Drawing on our resources we produced a mini anthology of work every couple of months, which we distributed in coffee shops and other venues in the local community. Widening our horizons, we produced our first e-book based on café stories set in Hull. For more innformation on the group's work visit my
'Write Now' website. Inspired by the group I completed a work of non-fiction based on my teaching career. Recently I have moved into the area of fiction. The founder member of the group, Lynne Emmerson, has two books published and more in the pipeline. In 2016 she was the winner of the Val Wood prize for creative writing: For more information on Lynne’s work visit:

My niece, Annia Elizabeth Carter, is a housewife and mother of three from South Yorkshire. 'Agitation' is her first book, although she has always had a keen interest in the written word and has composed many humorous poems for friends and family. Her book is available in paperback from Amazon:
